Frank Zummo at this year's APMA's! June 20, 2017 17:57

Sum 41’s Frank Zummo has been a vital part of the GhostCircus Apparel movement since the very beginning. As one of the most sort after drummers in the alternative music scene in Los Angeles, Frank’s accomplishments since joining pop/punk icons Sum 41 in 2015 have recently been recognised by Alternative Press with the result being his nomination in this year’s Alternative Press Music Awards, in the Best Drummer category.

Sum 41 have toured the world at length since the latest record ’13 Voices’ was released on October 7th last year, giving Frank a chance to continue to build on his relationship with the band’s fans. “The fans have been truly amazing and I thank them for welcoming me into their Skumfuk family. The worldwide love and support they have for this band is really special. Their support for the voting on these nominations has been overwhelming. Thank you all so much!”

The Alternative Press Awards are of course, fan voted, giving special meaning to Sum 41’s treble of nominations this time around. “I was sitting in my hotel room in El Paso, TX and received an email from our manager congratulating us that we have received 3 nominations. I literally was frozen looking at the computer screen for a good few minutes!

John Lydon of Sex Pistols fame, once said, “Punk became a circus didn’t it? Everybody got it wrong. The message was supposed to be: Don’t follow us, do what you want!” It’s this exact attitude that has seen Sum 41 become the embodiment of old-school punk rock in the modern generation, something that Frank exhibits in abundance, making him an absolutely irreplaceable presence in Sum 41’s arsenal. “It's really been the greatest in every way! I really found the band that I have always wanted to be in!

This year’s rendition of the APMA’s will be, as it always is, scattered with Rock N Roll royalty, hosted by Andy Biersack of Black Veil Brides, and with performances by the likes of KoRn, Machine Gun Kelly, Sleeping With Sirens, All Time Low and a special demonstration by Frank along with Adrian Young (DREAMCAR/No Doubt) + many others. “I'm beyond stoked to collaborate with 2 amazing artists for this special performance. It's going to be an amazing night in every way!”

The APMA’s will take place on July 17th in Cleveland Ohio. Votes can be cast on their website http://www.altpress.com/apmas2017_home
